LAMDA @ Waverley Abbey

At Waverley Abbey, Showshack offer private individual, duo or group 30 minute lessons in Acting & Singing using the LAMDA Examination syllabus.

Lessons take place during school hours 11.50  15.20.

The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) is the oldest drama school in the United Kingdom.

LAMDA exams can be taken in Acting, Musical Theatre, Devised Performance (Improvisation) and Mime at all levels. Speech exams can also be taken, for example: The Speaking of Verse and Prose or Speaking in Public.

Exams are accredited to the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) giving equivalent points towards GCSEs, A Levels and UCAS Points.

Our Acting LAMDA lessons are designed to develop a range of skills that will serve children in all aspects of their lives, unlock the imagination, increase communication skills and build self-confidence and self-esteem. Lessons also focus on taking direction, expanding characterisation knowledge and evolving performance skills to the highest level.

Our Singing LAMDA Lessons help to build confidence, teach breath support and control, pitching and articulation. It is important to gain training and guidance with singing to prevent vocal damage and strain. Students can learn a variety of styles and genres including Musical Theatre, Pop, Rock and many more.

LAMDA Teachers

All of our LAMDA teachers are experienced professional actors and actresses with degrees from drama school and are DBS checked.
